SUKAN PARALIMPIAD 2010

The final game between Hj Shaharudin Sidek (N9) versus Mahadzir Derani (KL) in the B2 Category was a fight to the bitter ending. I call this game as "The destiny overrules all efforts" (Takdir mengatasi segalanya) Though the game was all the way equal, the person who blundered the last lost. On move 72, white suddenly put his Rook as en prise. This has caused KL 2 gold medals.

Hj Shahrudin Sidek (N9) vs Mahadzir Derani (KL)

[Event "Paralimpiad, UiTM Lendu"]
[Site "?"]
[Date "2010.11.25"]
[Round "5.1"]
[White "Hj Shahrudin Sidek N9"]
[Black "Mahadzir Derani KL"]
[Result "1/2-1/2"]
[SetUp "1"]

{I had lost my handphone thus lost my mood to record the important game
between KL player, Mahadzir Derani and Hj Shaharudin Sidek of N9. However,
after Amir Samsudin and Idris Saman had registered their victories, I
discovered that, the tie break between Idris and Hj Shaharudin was favouring
the former. Therefore, a victory from Mahadzir might as well changed the
colour of the medal from silver to another gold. In fact losing this game
still mantains the KL team clinch on gold (team). therefore, having a winning
advantage, a player should execute the victory. Why should we waist such
opportunity? After all I recall one of the most notable quote from the late
bobby Fischer - which I could not remember exactly the wordings- a chess
player's aim is to win the game after sitting for hours. If you have the
opportunity why waist such opportunity with a draw?}

1. Bxa7 Bg5 2. Qe2 Be3+
3. Kf1
And here, surprising ly black offered a draw which was
gladly accepted by Hj Shaharudin as it enabled him to win the gold medal.}

(3.Kh1 d3 {leads to the same finale})
(3. Kf1 {After this, the winning line would be} d3 4. Qb2 (4. Qxe3 Qxg2#) 4... d2 5. Ke2
(5. Re2 d1=Q+ 6. Re1 Bd3+ 7. Qe2 Bxe2#) 5... Qxg2+ 6. Kxe3 dxe1=Q+ 7. Kf4 Qxb2

Therefore

SUKAN PARALIMPIAD 2010

The saddest part of the event of Sukan Paralimpiad 2010 is that, I lost my handphone (I believe I had left or dropped it somewhere between Tun Kudu's Hostel and Dewan Makan Temenggong of UiTM Lendu). If anyone had heard or found my handphone, please contact me at 0378807924.
SUKAN PARALIMPIAD 2010

Below is the song which KL team and players dedicated to all chess players, officers, volunteers, coaches who participated in the Chess Paralimpiad 2010 from the 22nd to 25th November 2010.

Kalau berpacaran memang banyak pantang larang
Menjaga susila ibu bapa adik abang
Apabila berdua carilah tempat yang terang
Agar tidak pula mencoba aksi terlarang

Chorus
Boleh pandang-pandang jangan pegang-pegang
Duduk renggang-renggang bertambah sayang
Biar malu-malu biar segan-segan
Kerna malu itu perisai orang beriman

Kalau berpacaran jangan tunggu lama-lama
Kalau dah berkenan jumpalah ayah dan mama
Hantarkan rombongan meminang dengan segera
Kalau terlambat kekasihmu disambar buaya

Ulang Chorus
[ Kalau Berpacaran (Feat. Ana Raffali & Altimet) lyric found on www.lirik.my ]

Yeah kita sambung cerita
Kalau kamu berdua aku yang ketiga
Aku penambah perasa
Akulah pendarab nafsu serakah
Hai teruna bikin perangai selamba
Hati si dara kata tak apa
Berani buat terima padah
Kalau tak sedia ucap syahadah

Ulang Chorus

Boleh pandang-pandang (boleh pandang-pandang)
Jangan pegang-pegang (boleh pegang-pegang)
Duduk renggang-renggang (duduk rapat-rapat)
Bertambah sayang (nanti confirm dapat)
Biar malu-malu (jangan malu-malu)
Biar segan-segan (jangan segan-segan)
Kerna malu itu perisai orang beriman (hahahaha)

SUKAN PARALIMPIAD 2010

This wonderful event was held at Melaka Negeri Maju 2010 from 21-26 th of November. I was coaching for KL and we clinched 4 golds 4 silvers and 1 bronze. Below is one of the most dramatic clash between the then woman individual medalist versus one of the most colourful figures in this tournament, Hj Abdul Majid, who claimed that this game as beautiful.

Nur Feiqha JHR - Hj Abd Majid N9 [D37]

Paralimpiad, UiTM Lendu (3), 22.11.2010

This is an important game for not only Feiqha as an individual, but also for KL team in respect of teams' points calculation. We really hoped Feiqha could stop Hj Abd Majid. 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.¤c3 ¤f6 4.¤f3 Not quite wrong but 4.¥g5 is sharper 4...¥d6 5.£c2 0–0 6.¥d2? Opening the e-file when your King is still on its original square and your opponent Rook is staring down the file in this way is too dangerous. [9.0–0–0 "When I prepared this game for Feiqha I had scolded her for often not castling" [Abd Latiff] I told Mr Sifu Latiff that there are some 'teachers' who had told the junior players not to castling until the position becoming dangerous, only then castling should be executed. This wrong idea of teaching is definitely wrong and dangerous in its application for the OKUs in respect of basic chess principles.; but castling to the kingside is dangerous 9.0–0? dxc4 10.¥xc4 ¥xf3 11.gxf3] 9...dxc4 10.¥xc4 e5 Diagram

SIMUL vs THE VISUAL IMPAIRED

Last Wednesday, on the 10th of November 2010, I was being honoured to be invited by the MPM (The Paralimpic Council of Malaysia) to represent the 'SIGHTED' in a chess match versus the 'BLIND' or shall we call "VISUAL IMPAIRED'. Most of the visual impaired player were known to me as I had been involving coaching them chess, by invitation (not regularly) from time to time since Manila Para Games 2005. This event is actually held to get the media attention of the sponsorship by JACTIM to the MPM.

I discovered that, Fadli (a.k. SM) and Faisal Zakaria, Asmah Hambadley, Haslindah Ruslan, Latiff sifu and his son Zaimi were already there at the time of my arrival.

I played against 4 players and in round 1 I won 3 (against , Hj Majid and Abd Rahim) and succumbed to Hj Shaharudin Sidek after without thinking snatch his Queen which led to an instant mate. Then we played again for the 2nd round with the colour reverse, except that there was a change on Board 1 when Ramalik played on board 1 with white while the other 3 maintains their status quo as the challengers with colour reverse. The game were stoppped before the ceremony, but as I, Ramalik and Abd Rahim continued, the games favoured me on the 3 boards while the other board against Hj Shaharudin Sidek (again!) remains unclear.

Below are the games :

Using the braile chess sets and playing against 4 visual impaired players with the clock ticking (1 hour time control) is not an easy task, but this is a way to get quick attention in order to promote chess. I wish to play more simuls for chess promotion, from a state to another state if given an opportunity just to promote chess, not only to the school children, but also to the society at large.

Here are the rest of the games in round 2

As for other perspective coverage of this event, please see here
